Product details
A custom printed canvas is your photo, your illustration or your design printed on 370 gsm polyester and cotton fabric, the same base used to reproduce fine art prints. You can order it two ways: canvas only, rolled and at whatever size you want, or already stretched on a wooden frame, ready to hang.
The high weight is what makes the difference. At 370 gsm the fabric has body, it doesn't show through and it takes the stretching without warping. On that base we print with detailed photographic reproduction: skin tones, the gradients of a sky and deep blacks come out as you see them on screen, without the sheen of photo paper and with the fabric texture that makes an image look like a painting.
At NovaGrafix we print your custom canvas with our own production in Spain and the whole process online: upload the photo or design, choose whether you want canvas only or stretched on a wooden frame, pick the size and see the real mockup before you pay. With canvas only you enter the exact size you need, with the short side up to 132 cm. Stretched, you choose from 50 frame sizes, from 24×14 cm to 92×65 cm, in the trade's Figure, Landscape and Marine formats plus the round sizes in centimetres. It's the classic choice for a picture with a family photo, the pet, a couple or a trip, for reproducing your own work and for decorating a shop or an office. We run an automatic preflight that checks resolution before printing and, if you have no artwork, our design team prepares it for you. How to upload your design
How to prepare the file
- Prepare the artwork at the product's final size and add 30 mm bleed on each side (extend the background to the bleed edge).
- Work at 300 dpi at real size for a sharp print.
- Use CMYK colour. If you send RGB, we convert it for printing (slight colour variations may occur).
- Keep important text and logos 40 mm from the edge (safety margin).
- Export as PDF (recommended) or PNG/JPG at maximum quality. Embed or convert fonts to outlines.
Tips for this product
- If you order it with a frame, add 3 cm of image on each side: that part folds over the edge of the frame and stops being visible from the front.
- Don't put faces, text or logos within 4 cm of the edge, for the same reason.
- 150 dpi at final size is plenty. A canvas is viewed from a distance and the fabric texture hides far more than paper does.
- If you order canvas only, with no frame, prepare the file at the exact size: it's printed as is, with nothing folded.

How much does a custom canvas cost?
At NovaGrafix canvas is charged by area: €28 per square metre plus VAT, with a minimum of €9.80 + VAT per unit. Canvas only, a 30×40 cm comes to €9.80 + VAT, a 60×80 cm to €13.44 + VAT and a 100×140 cm to €39.20 + VAT. Stretched on a wooden frame and ready to hang, a 30×40 cm costs €20.05 + VAT, a 40×50 cm €26.83 + VAT and a 60×80 cm €46.00 + VAT. From 5 copies of the same design there's a volume discount, up to 17% at 100 units.
What canvas size should I choose for a photo?
For a single photo on a sideboard or a shelf, 20×30 to 40×50 cm. To sit above a sofa or a headboard, 60×80 to 92×65 cm. The practical rule: the picture should take up between two thirds and three quarters of the width of the furniture below it. Respect your photo's aspect ratio so nothing important gets cropped: a vertical phone photo fits the Figure formats, and a panoramic one the Marine formats.
What resolution does my photo need to print on canvas?
150 dpi at the final print size is enough. For a 40×50 cm canvas that's about 2,360×2,950 pixels, and for a 60×80 cm one about 3,540×4,720. The fabric texture is far more forgiving than photo paper, so a recent phone photo is usually more than enough up to 60 cm. When you upload the file we check the resolution automatically and warn you if it falls short before anything gets printed.
What's the difference between ordering canvas only and ordering it with a frame?
Canvas only is the printed fabric, rolled and unmounted, at the exact size you order: useful if you already have the frame, if you want to frame it yourself or if you'll mount it later. With a frame you get the finished picture: we stretch the canvas over a wooden structure and you receive it ready to hang, with no assembly on your side. In this option the sizes are the frame's, which are the ones our supplier stocks.
Can I order a canvas made to measure?
Yes. In the canvas-only option you enter the width and height you need, between 20 and 300 cm, with the short side up to 132 cm, which is the usable width of the roll. The framed option uses the 50 catalogue sizes, from 24×14 cm to 92×65 cm, because the frames come ready-made in those formats.
Does the colour of a canvas fade over time?
Not with normal indoor use. We print with inks made for decoration and the fabric treatment holds the colour well. Avoid hanging it where direct sunlight hits it for many hours a day, and don't put it in an unventilated bathroom. To clean it, a dry or barely damp cloth, no products.
